The mission of the Center for the Advancement of Research in Distance Education (CARDE) is to promote leadership through a focus and belief in research as it informs best practices and policy. Using empirical scholarly inquiry for discovery and exploration, CARDE focuses on conducting research and disseminating results to advance the field of distance education research and assist policy decisions in education and other related fields.

Specifically, CARDE is committed to the following objectives:

  • Conducting research in distance education issues in all areas including K-12 and Higher Education--this research includes existing and new technologies.
  • Disseminating research findings regarding issues in distance education
  • Using the findings of research to improve best practices and influence policy-making
